Default 2003 Kodiak Questions

Hey ECW,
I didn't notice any power loss or any speed loss with the heavier tire. Honestly it was really close, I was holding one of the rears of each tire in my hands and couldn't tell much, but if the stock tires were new, maybe a couple pounds diff or so. I stayed with the stock size as well.

I wanted to get rims so bad, but the rims on the quad were still good, all but one, and the money just isn't there....I plan to buy a bigger quad in a year or so and let the girlfriend ride this one, so I'm leaving it for now. That way I can fix it up how she wants it.

I don't have a front gaurd, I don't know where it is, the guy had taken it off for some odd reason and he didn't have it but he had the rack, thats part of the reason I got it so cheap. It's only about 150.00 to get the parts to put it back together, but it'll have to wait til next season with winter right around the corner !

check out MRCycles.com, I believe the rack is listed at around $90.00 there.

Ok, I will do that! Thanks for all the tips!

I'd like to get that all done and get a winch for it eventually.

Spraying my buddy. Yep the Kendas dig big holes going uphill with it floored and a little front brake pressure at first! If I would have let off I would have been fine, But I got him none the less!

Steve

I was just re-reading some posts and noticed the oil price post you made. That's not a bad price for semi-syn, especially from a stealership.

We as a group buy our full synthetic oil (VP or equivalent) in a 45 gallon drum. So it only costs each of us around $100 for 5 gallons (Imp = around 6 US gallons) for top end full synthetic.

A hell of a deal if you ask me.

P.S. mxzeater: Where do you live that you have nice dunes like that? Here where we live you have to travel two hours to get to dunes like that and they are protected from any type of ORV riding.

I live in Hart, MI.

It's 5 miles inland of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. It's a great place, about 700 acres or so of free riding, big dunes small dunes, beach riding etc....It's all there! A great time!

Sand looks like fun, none anywhere near here, what sand we have is the beach and I ain't goin' anywhere near the salt water on my quad. I got my fender welded yesterday and put my new floor boards on today, got about 50 feet and almost tore one off on a stump. Time to get the axe out again. I'm not going to spend any more money on it this year (said that before), next year I'm getting tires and a custom aluminum skid and a-arm protectors, buddy of mine works at a fab shop. Btw, 2500 is a steal, I paid twice that for mine with 5000 km on it, that is the going rate pretty much around here, they are close to 10g new.

I'll see if I can get a chance to get some pics of mine.

I went with the stock size. I think they are 25" tires. Stock width and all, I wanted a big wheel kit, but didn't have the money right then.
