Default Help with new rebuilt top end 02 Blaster

Ok guys, the quad siezed after I ran it too lean after trying 111 race fuel and not rejetting. I Know ouch cause it caused me 2, two stroke quads. I pulled the motor and found pieces of the piston inside. No scarring on the cylinder walls thank God! Ok crank looked good cleaned everything out and bought new top end rebuild kit (stock). I honed the cylinder, put a very light coat of 2 stroke oil around the cylinder and put everything back together torque everything to spec and put in spark plug. Now here's the BIG question, I was not trying to start it but simply wanted to turn the motor over a few times with the kick start. Well one kick and the kick starter locked in place!! I tried lightly kicking again but I did not want to cause any damage. I tried putting it in gear and roll it back and forth to maybe unlock the piston but no luck. I know I checked the new piston and rings fit properly in the cylinder and it moved in and out smoothly with resistance but nothing to lock it in like it did. Please advise what went wrong and how to unfreeze the piston, and as always thanks for the support!

Unless there is something seriously wrong inside the bore, visibly wrong, there is no way a single stroke of the kicker can seize the piston. Loosed the jug and try pulling it off, and if the piston slides inside the jug, it's something else. If you do this right, you won't have to replace the head gasket, because you won't be taking the head off. Oh, wait...did you debur the ports after the hone? If not the ring could get caught...hadn't thought of that. I would check the counter balance for position, and the kicker for improper assembly. If the kicker is stuck in place and won't come back up, it's the kicker, but otherwise, I would definitely look at the counter balance. Truthfully, there are alot of things it could be, but there is a start.

They can sieze up with the rings installed upside down and the grooves in the wrong position.

Or there could be a piece of the piston down in the crankcase that was left in, that has gotten wedged between the crank and the crankcase.
