I just bought a 2000 yamaha grizzly 600 from a friend of mine. He hadnt used it in over a year. When I try to crank it up the first time, it takes probably 2 minutes of me trying to start it before it will actually crank and stay cranked. Could this be because the gas in the tank is probably over a year old? or could it be something else. Once it cranks it runs excellent, and will start on the first try until i let it sit over night, then its the same thing over again.

Mix some SeaFoam in with the fresh gas and run it. Add/Change fuel filter. Clean/Replace air filter. Change engine and differential oils. They break down over time. Lube steering and control cables. Clean/replace brakes.
Stuff I'd do before riding much. There's nothing more fun than a quad you can't stop.
