93 warrior

Default 93 warrior

hi im new here just bought my first ever quad, it is used 93 warrior, it runs pretty good but needs some work, my first question is the exhaust header gets red hot from the motor about 2" out, too lean or too rich ? second question when I shut it off there is a knock from the motor as soon as the motor stops turning it goes knock, just once, when I first start it and touch the throttle it stumbles and usually stalls but after it gets warmed it runs fine, I had a yahama 80 dirt bike when I was a wee one than a suzuki 185 dirt bike when I was in my late teens, im 40 now and switching from mud bogging 4x4 trucks to quads, gas prices got me down sizeing, dont know much about these machines so I will probly be asking alot of questions so please bear with me, any help will be apreiciated, and thank you.

IM A AUTO TECH AND HAVE TWO WARRIORS MYSELF AND WHEN EXAUST TEMPS ARE HIGH THAT IS CALLED A LEAN BURN CONDITION ...THE PIPE GLOWING RED IS A SIGN THAT THE ENGINE IS RUNNING TO LEAN EASY FIX IS TO CLEAN OUT THE CARB BY TAKING OFF THE BOWL ON THE BOTTOM AND SPRAYING OUT THE PASSAGE WAYS AND MAIN JET ALSO USE A BLOW GUN ON ALL PASSAGEWAYS. RUNNING LEAN WILL MAKE THE ENGINE STUMBLE WHEN COLD JUST LIKE A LAWN MOWER. AS FAR AS THE CLUNK NOISE WELCOME TO THE CLUB ITS NORMAL THE WARRIOR HAS A STARTER CLUTCH ( ONE WAY BEARING) BEHIND THE FLYWHEEL IT ALLOWS THE STARTER SHAFT TO NOT ENGAGE WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND WEAR OUT YOUR BRUSHES. IF IT STARTS MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE WHILE CRANKING THATS A SIGN THAT IT IS GOIN BAD

finely got it figured out, the rubber o-ring between the carb adapter and cylinder head was missing,gone,probly lost by the previous owner, runs great now.
