Is the banshee for me?
#1
Hi
I am going to be getting another quad within the next year. As most of you know already because iv posted about so many quads its not even funny but i just want to make sure im getting the right one. so i am now considering the banshee because i just can resist the awsome looks, power and sound of it its just awsome in every way. lt250r and the banshee are the 2 im really looking at but im still a little leary of the fact they are 2-strokes now i know what your thinking "you already have a 2-stroke the rm-85" but the thing is that the only thing i have ever done to that is put gas in it and beat it and i mean beat it. but i am curious to see what u guys think of me getting one i am 5'5 140 pounds and i ride in mostly national parks (smooth wide open trails) and i only go to the mx track once a year. so whats the maintence requiremet on a shee or lt250r over a 4 stroke? also can you even get parts for the lt250r or banshee anymore? and how long till you rebuild a 2 stroke and is as costly as a 4 stroke rebuild?
Thank you all for responses!

If I was in your shoes I would take a good look at a new YFZ450R with EFI as all you need to do is get on it and go. There is hardly any maintance that you will ever have to do on it. (If you go out of state to ride somewhere else no jetting required) JMO Good luck with your choice!

Contrary to popular belief 2 strokes are very low maintence. Now the lt250r I would not recomend because the frames are built crappy and have a history of braking and they are very unreliable. The banshee is very reliable STOCK.But what most people do is get a filter and pipes because the stock ones suck and eat horses.Mix two strokes right grease it every month and they will run forever.Plus 4 strokes have alot more moving parts such as cams, valves, pushrods where as a two stroke has only the piston, conecting rod, crank, and reed valve that move so alot more can go wrong on a 4 stroke.Oh and Dodge 57 you should be a yamaha salesman!!LOL

Mabey I am LOL. No its just I had a Honda 250R back in the day and the thing ran like a Raped Ape but you just cant compare them to todays 4 strokes as they will run circles around 2 strokes (atleast not in a straigh line but in overall handling/power and stock) they are easier to find parts for, the handling is out of this world when you compare the two, longevity of a four stroke is twice that of a 2, I can go on and on but now that they are adding EFI to most machines what is there not to like. If you were to take any of todays big bore 4stroke sport bikes with basic 3mod you are gong to have to have allot of upgrades/money in a 2 stoke just to keep up.
Ya you can say the price tage sucks on a new bike but if that is all you can come up with you need to find a time machine and go back to the early 80's as you are missing out on allot of fun with today technology!

Yea well i dont have money for a new quad but if i did id buy something like the 450 or raptor but neiter is in my price range. so im kinda stuck plus i love every thing about the banshee except the 2 carbs thats prolly not gonna be 2 much fun. and do you have to run premium gas in the banshee? what kind of maintenence does a banshee need? and what is up with suzuki and all the frame problems it seems like every one of suzukis models has had a frame problem?

Please don't take that the wrong way as I am not by any means knocking the two strokes but more or less giving props to todays bikes/manufactures for takeing todays 4strokes to new levels that have never been seen.
As for as frame issuse on the Zuk's only problem I have ever heard of is the the old Z400 had issues with shock mounting point breaking and Suzuki came out withe TSB showing where to weld gussets onto the fram solving the problem
Now as for the way the price of new bikes goes and as with anything, you goto pay to play it just depens on how much you like to play. For me I would never give up on the sport I love, even with the way the gas prices were!

dont be sorry i was just tring to put it all together cuz it just seems like most suzukis have frame or structure problems so its either a weird fluke or suzki needs to stop slacking off in the frame/structure department.
