Default cutting and splicing plugs on 88 warrior

I ve been battling with this warrior since my lil bro got it. i think- according to 91 warrior 357 and others- that the stator may be the firing issue. If that turns out to be it after i test it, does anyone or has anyone changed the wiring plugs from a newer stator to fit an older one? i ve been using parts ( crank, top end carb magneto...) off of a 96 or 99 warrior motor that my my lil bro found that has a busted housing, and i looked at the stator on the newer motor and the plugs and wires are different shapes and colors- they both have three white wires, the old one has a green, blue and yellow wires and also a red and a white with green stripe. the newer stator has the three white ones, but then it only has a blue with yellow stripe and a green with white stripe- and two more white wires. i was wondering if someone could tell me what wire goes where or if it would even work. thanks
