Default ultramatic problem

I have a 04 kodiak 450 auto. I was recently riding it when the v belt snapped leaving me stranded. I got it home and cleaned out the entire transmission. When i received my new belt, a carlisle ultimax atv belt. i could not get it to go on the way described in the manual. I spread the sheaves with the two bolts, and could still not get the belt on. I ended up taking off the primary sheave, then putting the belt on and replacing the primary sheave. But now when i ride it, it just doesn't seem right, the wheels dont start to move at a the normal rpm range, and when i put it in reverse, the machine does not move. I would appreciate any help with this, and id imagine all the ultramatics are the same.

Thanks,
Ben

i just repl. the belt on my grixzzly and cleaned my kodiax clutch out,

i had to take the pri. one off too.

when i took the pri .off and cleaned it ,its easy to have the disc come out there places, and bike will have no take off.

well after all was done my bike feel to be a bit slower now? botht of them, the kodiax it was just packed full of mud in was stuck like 5 mph wot.

so i will need to take it back apart and make sure the discs are in their right places. And also, it seems like i have little reverse. It would not spin the tires when backing into my shed. I know that is not right when it has no bottom end and i have to give it a nudge to get going in reverse. What am i looking to do when i take it apart again, everything appeared correct when i reassembled last time

you can rev it some to see if the clucth is working like it should.

if the belt does not going all the way down to the bottom of the primary the 8 pucks are out of place.

good luck ley me know what you find , or me pm if you want,

Default ultramatic problem

I just replaced my original belt on my 2000 Kodiak. Was going to do the bolt thing stated in the manual, but apparently at the factory, it was installed backwards. The bolts were on the inside. So I called my local shop and they told me to cut a couple of 2x4's in a wedge shape and hammer one in the rear sheave until the belt drops to get enough slack on the belt to remove it. Since mine was so worn. I just cut it. Just beat one wedge in the sheave, put the new belt around the primary rolled the belt around the secondary and knocked out the wedge. Worked great. And didn't have to take anything apart.

Clutch weights are not in right or the belt sheaves are still dirty, they should be cleaned with brake cleaner to leave no grease on them.

Default ultramatic problem

on my first try at replacing the belt, i took the cover off, and to no surprise i found my belt in pieces at the bottom of casing, after i cleaned everything out of the casing and had it in the condition to reassemble, i spread the secondary sheave, with the bolts, just as i was supposed to, but then i still could not get the belt to slip on over the primary. So i decided i would take the primary off, and then put the belt on put the primary back on. and let out the bolts, problem solved.

Now after doing research and realizing that it wasn't right, i have taken it apart. Now if someone could correct me if im wrong. In my understanding, i need to get the belt all the way down to the center of the primary, and near the outside of the secondary sheave. is there a hint to reassembly i missed?

I am awaiting a clutch pulled to get the clutch off, as it wont just slide off after i got the bolt off, because it was overtightened last time. im thinking it was overtightened, because my belt was not near the center like it should have been when i tried to reassemble it.
