Need some advice
#1
05 Grizzly
When trying to start I would hear a clicking/grinding sound in battery area before quad would finally start. I replaced the battery and it seemed to help for a while, then it completely quite. It would click/grind and never would start, had to pull start only. Replaced starter relay - didn't work, replaced starter motor - didn't work. My arm is getting a little worn out from pull starting so any advice would be appreciatd. Thanks

No, I don't run one. Should I be?
What is all part of the charging system? Just the rectifier and magneto? The clicking sounds seem to be right in the area of the rectifier. That is why I had assumed it was the starter relay when it had first quite working.

Harbor Freight tools offer a nice solar powered trickle charger. I connect it to my atv, ran it out the garage to the roof...it's a night little thing to have. The only issue is I had to splice the wire so I could run it a good length. I think it came with like a 10 ft wire.

your starter is probably going bad. I had it happen on my older Wolverine. Bad battery then bad starter. I bought a starter rebuild kit online that was rather inexpensive, and rebuilt mine. But check the volts at the battery when running, I believe it should read, 13.5 to 15.7 or something like that?
