The Warrior was factory designed to be put in reverse from any of the six gears, it was a big selling point back in the day-- there is no need to put it in neutral to shift into reverse, for clarification. The first thing I would do is take off the clutch cover and check the condition of the shifter forks and make sure everything is okay there.
