I reassembled the motor on my bike and i cant get the thing to shift! when i was pullin it apart i wasnt careful and didnt notice how the shift drum was as far as the two tabs and and spring caps were. how is it supposed to look? and the significance of the the dot on the rim

 

Definitely sound slike a shift drum or fork problem. Buy a repair manual and it will tell you everything you need to know.
