Unhappy 03 wolverine front diff

hey guys my 03 wolverine was bought for 4,000 new at the dealership. i noticed a funny noice from my front end and figured it was the brakes, since i had never had new pads or anything put in. i rode on and rode on and then there was a big cracking sound and all of a sudden my 4wd didnt work. turns out it wasnt my brakes and was my front diff. i took it apart and looked inside to see what was salvagable and all the gears were busted and/or worn down to nubs. called the yamaha dealer to see how much a new one would cost and they gave me a $2,000 price estimate. i started looking at salvage yards around the AK area and they didnt have anything. does somebody out there have info on where i could get a new front differential with all the gears and the yolk for cheap? any help is apreciated.

Hey Sorry about your luck, but this could turn out good for you in the sence that what you should look for is the front end out of a BigBear, I think 1999-2000 had the push button 4x4 which I believe is the same diff as yours, that way you could have 4x4 on the fly.
Just a thought,
Keep scanning Ebay and salvage yards you will find something sooner or later. You could also put it back together without the gears and ride 2wheel.

personally i would prefer spending on Yamaha than looking for cheap ones. i'd like to maintain quality with my 4wd.

Genuine parts are nice, but when the part comes close to the value of the atv, that would make me step back and reconsider also.
