So I just went to a local yamaha dealership, since my cousin was going to get a beartracker, but it was sold. I got to talk to one of the techs, and he was saying the neutral thing is probably because the clutch isn't adjusted correctly. He was also saying the bike should be in 1st when going into reverse, and that when going from reverse to forward to slip the clutch a little too. So I guess I'll try these different techniques when I go back up again, and see what happens.

Does the fact that I have these problems only when the bike is very warm mean anything? I never got any issues when the bike has just turned on, especially with getting it into neutral which was easy. It seems like once I really get on the bike and go through most of the gears, and it's fully warmed up that the neutral problems start to occur
when it gets warm making it more hard to get in gear would make sense that that clutch is out of adjustment. I rode my warrior today and if you take the lever, with the clutch all the way in and pull the lever back.. and hold it back then let the clutch out a little bit it will go right in.. same with forward(has to be in gear) as far as being in 1st when going into reverse.. that is false, does not have to be. but you won't be able to put it in forward again until it is in 1st

I,ve never had a problem with mine...yet.It will shift back and forth in gear or out.
I think it may come from an adjustment in the clutch or reverse linkage or if the clutch is starting to wear.Adding an extra steel disk in the clutch may help out.

Warriors are notoriously hard to get into neutral once they get warmed up. About the best thing you can do is do a fresh oil change and run some synthetic motorcycle oil. You do not have to be in first to use reverse, either, as the tech said. Yamaha designed the Warrior's reverse mechanism to be usable from any gear and used that as a selling point.

If you haven't already, I would just give the bike a fresh oil change with a new filter and see what that does for your problems.
