For the rear Yamaha recommends SAE 80 API GL-4, you can use an SAE 80W-90 as long as it indicates that it meets API GL-4. Also when filling the rear diff, do not fill it to the brim of the fill hole, doing this will cause gear oil to be pushed into the vent tube for the rear diff and it will end up venting the fluid under the seat next to the air intake for the engine. To prevent this from happening fill the rear diff by the volume of fluid that is required, which is 0.20 quarts. For the front Yamaha recommends either SAE 80 or 80W-90 API GL-5, it also requires an additive for limited slip differentials. I typically use Mobil 1 75W-90 because it has the limited slip additive already in it, you can also you the same Mobil 1 gear oil in the rear diff as well. The front diff can be filled to the brim of the fill hole without any problems.
