Default need help, cant figure out the problem?

My wife has a 99 warrior and shortly after buying it, in 04, the crank bearing locked up. So I rebuilt the engine in 05 and since then it has not been the same. It ideles fine and in the low end it is fine. However when loading up in any gear in the higher RPM range it starts to spit and sputter. I did a carb rebuild kit and still does it. I got new coil and still does it. Right after the rebuild when it itdled down it would back fire. It stoped doing that but still sputters. You think it could be timing?? It is spot on with a lite but I guess that still might not be right. Any ideas please!! Should I try to retard or advance the timing and if so which one?

Could be lots of things but cam timing comes to mind first. That is what I would check first.

yeah it sounds timing to me but let me give you more. Actually what is happeneing is idel is fine low rpms are fine. Then the midrage spits and sputters and at that point if you nail the throttle it will clear up until you get to then end of the RPM range for that gear and then it starts to spit and sputter again, shift gears and the cycle starts over. The engine is rebuilt and did not do this prior to me rebuilding. Does that still sound like timing?

Default running bad!

sounds like valves are to tight check clearance on them.(or plug and or wire breaking down when under load and or rpm)

after riding it for a while though it gets harder to start. Hmmm.....timing valves, stator?? I gonna do voltage checks from the stator to the cdi on friday to see if it is electrical, i am also going to check valves and timing. Heck could be fuel at the midrange to.
