Default 07 kodiak 450 problem

My atv won't go into 4wd and it sounds like it will stall when putting it into reverse.

It all started a few months ago when the temperatures dropped (not that it has anything to do with temps). When I would put it in reverse it would almost stall when I gave it gas. I would put in in 4wd and it would be fine and reverse without problems. Now, it runs smoothly in 2wd, forward and reverse but won't engage in 4wd, or at the very least the indicator doesn't show 4wd. But when the 4wd button is engaged and I put it into reverse, it sounds like it's about to stall. It does back up but it's sounds and feels like it's about to stall.

Any ideas? My uncle has a machine and says it's probably the adjustment for the gear selector or 4wd selector that on the motor. Not sure about that...

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

First off welcome to the Forums! Good Amount of information here. Usually during the winter months there is less activity...

Also the Forum has a great search feature which will help answer questions you might have that have already been asked and answered.

Take a look at these 2 links:

Or This link

These should help! In regards to the 4WD, I do not believe there is an adjust ment for that...

Thanks for the input. I tried the modification that bypasses the reverse rev limiter and it works fine now. A 5 minute procedure and bam, like new.

Cheers.
