Cool 2002 yamaha warrior problems

hi yall i have a 2002 yamaha warrior .. for the most part the quad does its work .. lately ive been noticing that its making a weird noise when its on idle and running sounds like loose change is stuck in the head.. im also loosing alot alot of power in my quad... i use to be able to smoke 400 ex and now i cant even keep up with them.. any idea on what this might be?...thanks

that almost sounds like the valve adjuster nuts fell off the rockers and are maybe bouncing around and there mght be alot of lash now, check to see if anything is loose like the exhaust, specially the header.

+1 Power loss and sudden noise in top end. Sounds valve related to me. it is backfiring?? Take valve covers off and I bet you find your problem.

i guess another possible thing is your timing chain is worn out and/or timing chain guides

I would for sure take it apart and see what's going on before starting it again.

Thanks for the replies .. I took it apart and yes on of the valves ( the upper one by the gas tank) .. Was very loose it was actually missing the bolt and now I don't know where it's at any ideas?? It really has no where to go I stuck a magnet to see if it was around it and no nothing inside.. Could it of been that when I gotten it moded the mechanic forgot to put it back in?? ... any idea where I can buy this 10 mm bolt the threading is so thin ..
