Default Problems with '01 warrior

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, but noticed there was all kinds of information and people willing to help so I decided to join. I have two '01 warriors and one is giving me fits. I originally used it for parts to fix one for my brother and now have gotten around to getting it all back together. Problem is...that I can't get it to start...well start then run. It has a white bros racing exhaust, jet kit, new stator and new high rev cdi. I know all the wiring is good...as I used it on another it runs great. It has great spark, compression is good, and valves have to set to specs. I had to put a new cam in it as the old one somebody beat a pin into since the factory one broke and it was out of time and could not be put in time. So I do know its in time now, carb has been rebuilt and jetted to specs. When I try to start it, with or without ether, it will try to fire and then it will fire and run for a few secs at a low throttle but will not rev. It does keep backfiring through the airbox when it does try to run, and will periodically backfire through the airbox when trying to start it. Cam chain is good and tight but I have no clue where to go from hear. Any suggestions or ideas? All info is appreciated.

just what kind of CDI is this aftermarket one? aftermarket CDIs have kind of been known to cause problems if its not a Dynatech CDI then i usually wont trust them, pro com and a few others have been known to just cause problems, try to swap CDI's off the other bike and see what happens, sounds like either a fuel problem or ignition/timing type problem.

im pretty sure it is a procom cdi. the thing is...it works fine on the other bike and is brand new. i have a stock cdi ordered and will be able to try it this week when it gets in...plus im gonna tear the carb apart while im waiting on it and go all through it again to make sure everything is clean. thnx for the response and ill keep you posted. if anybody else has any suggestions ill try them too. so you dont think its a valve problem? really dont wanna pull the motor again.

If you are getting backfires, you have a timing issue most likely. Check your cam specs again. You carb could be way off too, but I am putting my money on timing. If you got fuel and spark, then you are way off on when that occurs. The pop back is your queue.
