Pull or Coast starting Kodiaks or Grizzlys
#2
I haven't tried to pull start a Grizzly at 0 degrees but I did try to pull one over in the showroom at Tousleys. Wow, Hulk Hogan might get it started.
I can start my Magnum with the automatic, no problem with the pull starter in sub zero weather.

dude i think he was talking about pulling it behind another quad to get it started. Liek ya know when you get a quad goin and let the clutch out then it starts and sorry i don't think that it works on belt driven automatics my kawasaki praiie won't do it

The AC and Suzuki autos by design, always have the belt engaged. That is why they have the best engine braking of all the autos. With the belt always engaged al you have to do is put it drive and have someone on another quad just start pushing. The engine will definatly turn over.

The Kodiak belt is also engaged full time and the lighter weight affords it excellent engine braking, especially on a down-hill. I will test mine with my son pushing me tonite starting in high range. Dropping the selector in drive while rolling would cause some pooter-clenching audio as the geartrain would be back-driven from the tires rolling.

Nice to know that it can be done in an emergency. Hard to imagine getting in a fix like that.
As for the pull starter and a plow without a winch a guy could arm wrestle Hulk Hogan.
Thanks for the replies.
