Default should my float bowl be rtv'd?

07 yam wolverine 450
just wondering, the o-ring was rtv'd when i took it off, and now that i put the bowl back on without any rtv it leaks like crazy, should my o-ring be replaced? or was it meant to be rtv'd? thanks

Never RTV anything that gets gas against it.
Replace the O ring and your good to go.

if i'm not mistaken...doesn't rtv degrade when it comes into contact with any petroleum based product?

probably, o well i got rid of what was left, the killer is the guy that had it before me only took it to a dealer, i guess rtv was cheaper than a 7 dollar gasket , makes ya think twice about goin to the dealer
