2006 YFZ 450 Wont Start
#1
I have a 2006 YFZ 450 SE it has been sitting in the garage for a year now I was unable to get it to start, so far I have put new gas in it changed the battery, took the carburetor out and everything was clean I sprayed it out with cleaner anyway. I found that the choke was bent so that has been straightened. I pulled the fuel line from the carb to make sure fuel was flowing and it is. I pulled the spark plug and it looked good, the oil was changed before my last ride which was about 2 hours it looks clean. The last ride everything was working just fine. I was unable to find a fuel filter, is there supposed to be one on this model? I haven't come up with anything about it in a google search.
The ATV was pipped and jetted in AZ about 2 years ago I moved to WA 1 year ago and rode it just the one time.
Right now when I hit the starter it just turns over and wont start. Any ideas?
Thanks

If any fuel was left in the carb you may have to do better than just spraying it with cleaner. Pull the pilot and really clean it up good. Also, make sure you are getting spark from that plug. Better yet, replace it while you have it out of the motor to check function.
One trick you can try is to pull the plug and put a little gas in the cylinder, then reinstall the plug. If it starts for a short period of time, the carb is probably clogged somewhere.

Thanks for the reply Scooter86! I took the carb off again to follow your advice and this time removed the floats and found that the carb float needle was stuck. I cleaned her up, put everything back together and she runnin again. Thanks man!

Welcome to the forums.
Good to hear you're up and running again.
May want to add a little Seafoam to the next few tanks to help clearing it out. Not a bad idea to use it or some other type of stabilizer if you store it with gas in it.
