basicly i got my warrior as a gift...so its a pass down kinda thing...i looked for the VIN but its been sanded down and painted over several times by pervious owners that i cant tell what year it is...on line i first found it had the same colors as a 1996 model but i jus found another quad stating it as a 1991...i know theres not that much of a difference but i jus wana know for sure...the color of the fenders are tourquis blue and the gas tank cover is red as with the cowl. and ofcourse its famouse gold color rims...anyone please help me out....

 

I don't remember that color combo, I was thinking the turquoise had pinkish-purple tank covers, but maybe the fenders have been changed? The only way to be 100% sure is check the VIN's 10th digit. The VIN should be stamped into the left side of the frame under the engine. It should be stamped deep enough even with several coats of paint. I believe the way it works is if it's a 1991 the 10th digit will be a 1 or if it's a 1996 the 10th digit will be a 6 and so on.

 

thanks for the reply but even my local yamaha was asking for the VIN but when i told them i got it as a pass down fixer uper kinda thing they gave me a funky look like i stole it or something... so i just didnt wana make more of an issue and said its ok i'll figure out what parts to replace...but yea my VIN is rusted and sanded down from years of repainting and ridding...
