Default Need help with 85 tri-z

I just got an 85 tri- z. It can only get it to run with starting fluid. It is getting gas but will not stay running any suggestions on what I should do?

Yeah definately clean the carb, just take the carb loose and turn it sideways enough to get the bottom bowl off (4 screws). Then take the brass jets out and make sure you can see thru them, then clean the bowl and you should be all set.

The jets are clean. Bowl is clean. I'm wondering about the fuel pump. How much fuel should come out of the hose when you kick it? It only seems to trickle, is that normal? I'm not used to bikes with fuel pumps.

the fuel pump should squirt gas out about 2 feet. sounds like you are going to need to rebuild your fuel pump. If you keep use the starting fluid you will need to rebuild your motor. Starting fluid burns hot and dry that motor needs oil.

If I remember right, 120 is good. I think it could be as low as 90 and as high as 150. Should get there on at least the 2nd kick.

Thanks Raptor450! I took off top end and taking it to the shop. Had 60 on the first kick. Hopefully that's the problem. Has fuel has spark but won't run.
