warrior

I'm going to go and look at an 89' warrior this weekend. I'm getting it to run until I have enought money to purchase a brand new hi-performance quad. Is there any particular things I should look out for other than rust, welds, cracks, and the engine sound? Also, do the older warriors run like the newer ones. My cousin has a 2000 model and I've ridden it and loved it.

The warriors have changed very little over the years. It would be hard to check this, But there is a bearing that is known to wear out in the transmission, and can cause alot of damage. If the motor is burning any oil (bluey\black exhaust) the rings are probably shot. Look at the wiring under the left back fender, It is another warrior troublesome area. Other than that just check the usual things, Like the condition of the oil, ect,

I have a 89 warrior that I have had for about 6 month. I love it I have not raced any other quad but I have had my dad follow me on the road and I had a 14 tooth front sprocket and was hitting around 65 with it not quiet reved out.IT hauls but and the only thing I would love to do to it now is get new plastic, bored out,new web cam,and stronger valve springs.I really want to rip and burn those 400ex's.I also got a question?? How much are you gonna pay for it?? I paid 1800 for mine and it was in pretty good shape. Oh yea now I have a 12 tooth front sprocket and I can pull a wheelie from a stand still.I love it and hope to keep it for a while. I hope you like yours as I like mine and I also hope you keep it for a while.

I'm going to pay around 1500 for it. I'm gonna keep it for a while. I just need it till I get enough money to purchase a brand new hi-pro. quad. I'm probably gonna become attached to the warrior and not sell it. Only time will tell.

Does anyone know any more about this bearing in the transmission? I just split the cases on my warrior to replace the gasket between the halves, also wanted a look-see at the gears since its been missing shifts lately.. This quad has allways been a bear to push around the garage and heard about a washer or bearing that comes out of the case and binds up. I see a problem in my transmission on the countershaft that feeds the reverse gear, it rides a shaft but looks like its been eating into the case a little wear it rides.
Any help is appreciated
