I have a piped banshee and I ride in the dunes. A month ago I went to a fast motocross track with NOT too many whoops. I rode with a CR 125 with a ProCircuit pipe on it. My tires were new stock.
I just had to stop blowing him in the straits and out of turns because I was just begining to feel bad to do such thing over and over.
When we stop, he told me that he did never thought a quad could be that fast.
Against a CR 250r would be another story.
Dont get scaryed by a 125.
Leave them in the dust !!!!!

Forget all the power to weight preachers. The power/weight ratio will make an infinitesimal difference compared to the way a bike rides. You just can't explain this. A bike in whoops/jumps/bumps is great! You hold it tight with your legs, twist and hang on. On a quad, you have to make it to stay on. Like The Mac said, you hit 4 times as many bumps!...actually it would be twice, but...
Instead of looking for power (you will have enought to win drag races against 125) look for premium shocks, premium tires...and premium riding. Unless they are normal and you very good, they will win on a lap.
Sparky,
you bet a 125 needs more power in sand!! Did the guy need to push to get it going? ahahah

I don't know what kind of riders some of these guys are that get beat on a 250. I've had a KX250 and it wouldn't even be a fair race against my Raptor - the Raptor wouldn't stand a chance. Have you ever watched the 250s leave a starting gate on a MX track and then watched the quads? It's the difference between night and day. However, I don't have any experience on a 125, so I'll keep my cake-hole shut on that one...
