Welcome to the wonderful world of blasters.. the brakes stink, expesically the rear.. I mostly use the front brakes, at least on my blaster they work really good.. but my back breaks stink.. I plan on putting a banshee rear caliper on it sometime this summer, have the caliper but need to make a bracket.. Anyways thats what I'd do..

No, it will not rust, its made of aluminum. Only the steel parts will rust. You can polish the throttle cover, clutch cover, cylinder, head, etc.. and they will not rust some day I'll do the dirty work of polishing the clutch cover... here is a picture of the throttle cover,

I painted around the yamaha logo w/metallic purple enamel then just sanded it off with very fine sandpaper, looks brushed. I like it.
