Default 1993 Timberwolf Stuck in No Gear

My son came home and was having fun on the 4 wheeler and tried to get it into reverse and got it stuck in between forward and reverse (using the selector - but not moving it far enough) and killed the motor. So now I cannot get the quad into neutral to get it started again and out of no mans land in between forward and reverse. Am I in trouble here? The forward/reverse selector will not go far enough forward now to re-access the forward gears.

Please help. Have a paperweight at this point.

Well - I messed around with it long enough to get it the thing back into neutral and everything works just right again.

However, while I am a fan of this little air cooled motor - maybe not as much of a fan of the reverse selector system that Yamaha implemented on these 90's cycles.

Tip from me..... don't kill the engine with the selector in-between forward and reverse.

If I remember my 350 Big Bear right. You have to hold down the foot or hand brake to use the low,High, and reverse selector.
I could not shift once and what it was was a spring/wire that connects to the foot brake arm fell off. Without it put back on I could not get it into gear.

That seems to make sense - but on the Timberwolf I'm sure you can use the reverse selector without having the break applied.

I've just got to make sure when the kids are riding the bike they push and pull that lever ALL the way forward or backward. Anything less than a full pull/push and you have some issues.
