How much h/p increase would i get if i milled the piston head on my blaster? My dad owns a business and he said he could do that for me. Is it worth it? Would this make my blaster less reliable? Would this take life off of the top end(would it last as long)? And would I have to run high octane gas or something like that in it? any answers would be apretiated.

1995, yamaha blaster, paul turner pipe and silecer, K&N filter, oil injectoin block off, rear holeshot tires, graydon full chassis and swingarm skid plate.

milling a head increases the compression. i am pretty sure it does not increase hp. it will make more lowend. it will be just as reliable as stock, that is if you dont take to much off and have detonation. i do not know how much to take off a blaster head.

to get max performance, you have to mess with the squish band angle or something. good luck figuring it all out.

it would be easier to buy a thin head gasket. That way you can always go back stock if you want. Vito sell them along with some other places.

So it will give me more low end. Will it bother my top end? or will it be the same?

I would suggest you be very carefull about going into a project like that without the help of someone who knows exactly what they're doing. There are alot of considerations, that may not all be obvious. Those engines are engineered to very close tolerances, and may not allow for much modification. For example, I'm not sure about in the case of a blaster, but I know that in some engines, the piston, when at top dead centre, is only a few thousandths of an inch away from the open exhaust or intake valve. If you were to plane too much off the head in this case, your engine would destroy itself the first time it turned over because the piston would crash with the open valve.

Good advice about being careful.... But, the Blaster doesn't have valves, it is a 2-stroke.

oops, I forgot about the blaster being a 2 stroke, but that was just one example of the point I'm trying to make. When you make a major modification in the engine, you have to consider every possible component that could be affected.
