Default Pro hauler top end parts needed

I have a 1989 Yamaha Pro hauler FTU1W. I would like to do a top end rebuild. I have searched the major parts sites but can't find a top end rebuild kit. Called Bike Bandit and they said the parts (piston etc.) are discontinued. So here are my questions.

1 Does anyone know a source for discontinued parts?
2 What engine is on the Pro Hauler? Was it used on any other machines?

I'm not well up on Yams, but they tend to use the same engine for years, changing frames and plastics, but not the engine. So you may find a much more recent 250 has the same engine. If your local Yamaha dealer has been trading for a long time, they will know what later parts will fit earlier bikes. You will have to pay Yamaha prices for them, but I find genuine pistons/rings are better quality than the pattern parts anyway.
