They make a clutch kit specifically for the Kodiak and it works well. I put one on after I put on 26" Mudrunners.

I'm only new and was wondering the purpose of a new clutch kit? Is it to generate more power because of the larger tire size? Will running a larger tire size burn up the factory clutch?

Putting on larger tires will NOT burn up the factory clutch. What happens when you put on larger tires, the clutch doesn't engage quick enough which makes it harder to turn the tires. What the clutch kit does is make the clutch engage quicker, which in turn sends power down to the tires so they can be turned.

It is not neccessary to put on a clutch kit if you put on larger tires. But there will definitely be a noticeable difference if you do and well worth it.
