I was riding my 97 warrior fryday and I died as if I turned the key as I was riding on a road about 30 miles an hour, But it did start right back up and didn't do it again all day. Is this a sign of the ignition or coil about to fail or could it have just been a fluke?

Thanks

Bill P.

The little black box under the seat on the left side, they sometimes go for no reason. I know a kid who had that problem with a new warrior. Probably just a fluke though.

Im not familiar with Warriors at all but when i first picked up my AC 500 manual it did the very same thing about 10 days after i picked it up. Turned out to be a loose connection in the steering column. The dealer had the column apart when he installed the winch on the front and when he put things back together one of the electrical connections ( the one feeding the ignition) wasnt snapped together properly. It would run fine until i turned the handlebars to just the right positon, the connection would lose contact and the machine would die. Center the bars and it would fire right up, took some head scratching to figure that one out but turned out to be a simple fix. Sooo you might want to check your electrical connections in and around the steering column, for loose connections, frayed or rubbed wires etc.

try cleaning the battery terminals. you said it died as if you took the key out of the ignition. if the coil was bad you'd still have power, but you wouldnt get any spark.

let me ask you guys this, what does the ignition module do anyway? is it's only purpose to aid in starting the bike? A friend of mine said that the sevice manual says there is no way to check one to see if it is bad or not, is that true?

thanks for all of the input too...

The batter should not affect how the warrior gets spark because everything is run off of the stator once it is started. I have had numerous problems with my battery cables braking and have had to start it by touching the cable to the battery and after that just riding without the cable. So, I guess that means the batter is not needed to obtain spark.
