Why does my 1996 Yamaha big bear 350 want to sputtre after I make a turn or after I go through a few little bumps?

Could be as simple as trash or water in the carb bowl. If you can drain it in a clear container. Water will settle at the bottom if there is any.

I took off carb and drained everything weeks ago. still sputts. Somebody said something about valve clearance being out of spec. Gonna try that, but that's the thing, does anybody know the specs for my yam. do all atv's have generally same clearances. I think ( 0.006 to 0.012).
