i have a 99 big bear 350 it will not turn over but the natural light comes on but when i straight wire it to the starter it will start right up does anyone have any ideas

 

Probably faulty solenoid, if it clicks but the starter doesn't spin it almost certainly is the solenoid. If it doesn't click, it still may be the solenoid, but other possibilities are start button faulty, or the wiring between ignition switch, start button and solenoid, or neutral "lock-out" circuit.

 

ill try later do you no were the fuses could be cuz the lights don't work and they have new bulbs

 

Afraid it is years since I worked on one of those old Big Bears. Just a thought, does a wire from ignition switch go to the start button and lighting switch in the LH handlebar switch box? If so, and that wire broke, or had a bad connection where it plugs into the loom, it would put both start button and lights out of action.

 

ill look but the tail light works and do you no what i could do to get it to fire up quicker and would you no why it backfires thanks

 

Might try a new plug if that don't work check the valve adjustment.
