I can not find the VIN of my Yamaha timberwolf. It is not on the frame where it should be. Is there another way to locate this number?

 

There is something strange about Yamaha Vin numbers, I have come across several that don't seem to have one, but how the dealers did the paperwork when selling them new, without a number, is also a mystery. If you just need parts, the number on the white sticker on the frame, under the seat, seems to be all a dealer needs to identify year/model etc.
