Default 2006 Raptor 50

Need help! Bike won’t start in Neutral but will fire up when In drive and I push start it. Starter switch is working properly. I have pulled the plug and I have a good spark. It just won’t even attempt to turn over.

when push started it won’t idle while in Drive, it just dies out if I’m not engaging the throttle. But if I put it in neutral quick enough it will idle until I shut it off.

I have put a new carb & air filter, plug, oil & fuel. Any knowledge out there that would help?!

The term "won't turn over" means the engine will not turn, do you mean this? The first thing to check with a Yam is the valve clearances, as they have a habit of closing up. Idle speed adjuster will need to be set on your new carb.

The engine turns but it will not fire. My next guess was the header assembly but I wanted to get some input before I dug into the header. I will check the valve spacing and hopefully that does the trick. Thank you

Are you saying that it will start if you push it?

Yes it will fire up if I push it. I adjusted the valves and it’s running a lot better but still won’t start unless I push it.

IMO, there is something wrong in the clutch's. I know of no reason that it can be pushed and have the motor turn over.

Once’s it’s going it runs great when the throttle is engaged. While in drive if you let off the throttle and come to a stop it will not idle it will just die. Would this support the bad clutch diagnosis?
