Default YFM250 needs schooling

Whats up??? Been a while since I posted anything because my YFZ450 runs great. Last night I picked up a 2008 Yam Raptor YFM250 for my son. He was riding a Chinese 110 at the age of 3 and at age 7 I bought him a Chinese 125. Our Last trip to Ocotillo Wells was last week and it was obvious he needed something with more power, more reliable and certainly more durable because on the second day of our 5 day trip he ripped the rear axle, chain tensioner and hub right off the quad (later I found the rear end was in 5 pieces, non of which should have been damaged for no reason than the Chinese use substandard steel). I have welded the motor mounts 2X, welded the rear hub 3X and replaced numerous parts to which I have given up counting. SO... That's that! I fixed it for the last time, sold it and bought him the Raptor. My question is, from any of you out there with experience with these rides, what should I keep an eye out for? I know off the show room floor my YFZ had issues with the oil squirter and blow out plugs... Does the YFM have any manufacturer Issues? also, I'm big on mods... LOL... (you should hear what I've done to my YFZ) what are some of the best mod's for the YFM? Thanks all!
