Timberwolf muffler replacement
#1
Anyone ever replaced the muffler on their Timberwolf (or Beartracker, as I'm sure it's an identical setup) with something that didn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm not trying to get any performance out of it, just something to replace the old original one on my 98 that's starting to rust out and get really noisy... I've seen some original take-offs on eBay that are still a little rusty, and they're still going for $100+... Is there any new aftermarket options that are around the same price point, even if it requires some modding to fit? I'm a novice welder so I don't mind cutting and welding a little pipe if I have to.
Again, I'm not after a performance race exhaust, I just want something quiet...

We mend bikes for cockle pickers, and they seem to be able to fit any old silencer (muffler) to their bikes, so yes it should be possible. One problem is silencer diameter, the wheel often comes closer to the silencer, on full bump, than people think. If the front pipe has had it, things are a lot more difficult than just cutting the silencer off and grafting a motorcycle one on. There are some very cheap "universal" fit motorcycle silencers on eBay, no idea if they are any good.
