Default Big Bear Oil Leak

My 1993 Big Bear blue is leaking a LOT of oil. Is right where the case comes together in the middle. Will I have to split the case to fix this leak? What seal is leaking to cause this issue? It doesn’t appear to be coming from drain plug. You can see right on the seam where case comes together it is bright shiny silver (like it’s been leaking for a while). The guy I bought it from said that there were “no leaks” liar…
I should have checked it out more carefully(my mistake). I was actually just excited to find one with good plastics that ran well. Super bummed. Please help!

Worth checking if the bolts holding the case halves together are tight. Do not overdo it, as M6 screws in ally soon strip. I have never split Big Bear crankcases but suspect the joint will have been coated with jointing compound before assembly, rather than having a paper gasket, if so, even if the bolts were slightly loose, it will probably still leak with them tight, then the only cure is to split the cases. Big Bears have a habit of leaking from the rear oil seal, so be sure you do know exactly where the leak is coming from, before any drastic action.

I ended up finding out where the leak was. There was a crack right at the bottom of the case. it was about an inch and a half long. they had tried to silicone it before. I think I have the crack repaired. I’ll find out tomorrow. Thank you for replying to my post.

Thanks for getting back to us, so many people who enquire don't, which leaves threads like this hanging.
