Default Need help with Yamaha Kodiak 400

Hi, i just recently bought an older Yamaha Kodiak 400. It runs fine but it doesn’t accelerate fast and doesn’t get up above 20 MPH. I’ve already checked to see if there is a governed and there isn’t. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We had a Grizzly 600 in for ignition repair, that was slow, we assumed that to be the way it was supposed to be. However, since then, someone on here posted that on belt drive models, sticky pulleys in the variator can cause this problem. Or it could be a clutch slipping. There is a rev limiter for reverse on most Yams, and I believe it can become faulty and come on in forward gear, you can tell when it hits the limiter because it misfires.
