I have been useing a Fram filter it is only 1/2 longer than the Yamaha. I don't remember the part #, I will go look tomorrow. It is a perfect fit just a little longer [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

LOL......All you guys are running the old supersport spin on by Yamaha which is still available because most cruisers still run them as stock equipment.

There is no difference other than length.

No difference concerning by pass and relief valve. Only the length.

 

Raptorrider- we had a dyno out last week end. Might do it again if some more want to try it out. If not enough intrest me and the boy are headed to kermit, with rod and his son. (rod is still waiting for his custom lonestar crf450, should have his new z-400 by then) If there is enough intrest in the dyno, rod will ride the week end at my place. Let me know. Bob is home.

 

What is the filter model or part number so I can pick me up one for myself?

 

I have been using a BOSCH 3300 for about 4 months now. It's maybe a 1/4" longer than stock, BLACK, and I don't have too lube it to fit between trees. THis filter is originally designed for a Maxda RX-7 and Miata....same threads as the much longer PF-2057.
Also, that Fram filter that someone posted about using earlier.....it's junk....do a search on that filter (PH6017a). There is a study on the net concerning that filter and conmparables....very interesting info.

Do some research on these filters and make a determination whether or not too use any of them. I would recommend for everyone to use the OE replacement available at your local shop. I will continue running the Bosch 3300 though....lol.

Warrior007-Yes, I am still running the AC Delco #2057. It has been about 15 months now. I have logged about 85 hours on my Raptor. Not a hint of a problem. The filter crosses with one for a 97 Mazda minivan with the V6. Be aware that the same filter in a Puralator brand will not seal and will pour all of your oil in in a very short time. See my earlier post about the Fram filter above. They are not concave enough the clear the large glan nut and the nut will not let it seal against the block.

 

The Fram is a PH 6607 and was about $3 from your local Wal-mart. Now if it was leaking don't you think I would have noticed it?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img] It is exactly the same as stock just a little longer. Now as for it being junk, could be. I changed my oil and filter so often it doesn't matter. I would rather have a black one, so next time (real soon) I'll go look for a Bosch[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Now that we all know we can replace the factory filter with a much cheaper oil filter what about the oil itself? Please include weights and brand.

 

I read the articles once before that were mentioned.

The problem with the FRAM filters is not from external leaking that you would notice. It is internal leaking because the glue used to seal the filter material falls apart and allows dirty oil to pass on by without being filtered.
