From what you posted, it sounds like the police in your area are, except for this stuck up carpet muncher, pretty cool about ATV's on the road. There are plenty of legal ways to annoy/get revenge against people, it just takes some VERY creative thinking...

 

thats nothing i went on the orv poker run in hulbert mich last week. the guy running it handed out the maps and away we were. to get to any of the stops you had to run the roads for a short distance off the trails. bam DNR stopped us 200 bail money or get taken in. so in short i payed money to join a orv poker run that was not legal. i hope its all figured out by next year it really was a total blast lots of nice people tons of fun

 

Some advice: If the folks trying to stop you are not uniformed law enforcement and you are not trespassing, DON'T STOP! Turn around and go back or find a way around but don't stop for them. You're under no obligation to stop and talk to people-for all you know they might have pulled a gun and tried to steal your atv! How could you tell he was a game officer if he's out of uniform when he didn't show you a badge until after you'd stopped.
Someone called the railroad patrol (ooh I'm scared!) on us once for crossing some railroad tracks to go fishing along a river. The rail crossing is not posted and they can't deny river access. These two goofballs came down to the river in a Jeep Cherokee with yellow lights flashing while we were fishing. "You boys are in alot of trouble-get up here right now" they said. We casually strapped our poles to the atvs, drove about 50 yards up the river bank, crossed the tracks, yelled come get us, and dissapeard into about 800 acres of roadless private property.
Jeeps can get you into some wild places-but they can't follow you on a 4wd atv (rule to live by)! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

You're right, Pittsfield State Forest is neat. However, you need to know that the reason this and 4 other State forests are open to ATVs in Mass. is that the ATV clubs were successful in negotiating with the State to keep these forests open if the club members do all the trail work each year in the forests. We are finding it very difficult to get our hours in since so many ATVers ride and so few want to give up their time to work. If you're going to ride these trails, you should join Western Mass ATV Association and do a work party or two each year. By the way, this Sunday (7/22), we're meeting at Pittsfield State Forest Headquarters for a work party. I'd love to see you there to help us keep these trails open. Thanks. Fran O.

 

Yes..unless the person is in uniform, you could have ridden back home in fear...and I doubt you'll get a ticket for that. And you have an excuse for breaking the a law <"A man tried to stop me on my atv and I didn't know what he wanted">

Anyways don't do anything with the ATV or noise against the guy. First off he'll know who it is. Second off, cops can catch you easily if you're the only person on the road (I've seen my rent-a-cops stop people for beeping after 11). Thirdly, you make the rest of the ATV world including yourself look bad.

First I'd suggest filing a complaint. And if you do that, do nothing else. But if you have to go witb revenge just do the dead fish. They stink bad! I put a couple in some kid's car and it smelled for weeks!

 

#1 a fisheries officer has NO authority to tell you to stop or to say anything. Its a public road, thats the cops job not a fisheries officer. It was just like some random person telling you to stop and calling the cops!!!!!

 

As a previous poster stated, DO NOT STOP if they are not uniformed. I have a similar story (not atv related). I was having fun with my car one night, doing a few donuts in the middle of the road then I continued onto my destination. A few minutes later a guy in a mustang pulls up next to me trying to get me to pull over, so I do thinking he must know me or something. Then as he's coming up to my car door a truck pulls in front of me at an angle to block me in and both doors come open. I got out of there real quick ripping the passenger door off of the truck. Guess what? The driver of the truck was a cop. Guess what again? Not a damn thing happened to me, nor did I have to pay for damages done to his truck. Moral of the story, DO NOT STOP if they are not in uniform. Because you don't know who the hell they could be.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Some people are on power trips, others are always thinking they are doing society a favor, etc. Unfortunately, this is just a fact of life.

Crank Calls: You know the address, get the number. Public phone only.
Trade Show Mailing lists: Fill out ballots at trade shows with his name and address.
Same goes for online catalogs: Do it at a Cyber Cafe or Library if you are concerned with someone tracking you.
Order porno magazines (or 100 others) to their house and check 'Bill me later'.
Order a pizza to their house from a payphone. (If you try 20, the pizza joint will call first). Put a call into the Humane Society about an animal in the area (crock, skunk, fox, whatever) and tell them it's seems to be hanging around the guys house.

There must be a million of them. Bet there are some good internet sites for low risk revenge.

I have the same problem with a Parking Ticket Officer. I can't imagine what it is like for this dude to get out of bed each day. He is such a pr1ck. He will ticket you on my street (In a subdivision) if you are over the time limit by 5 minutes. Religiously. He gave tickets down the street 36 hours after a snow fall, because the cars were obstructing snow removal. (Hadn't been cleared yet).

I can't wait to find out where he lives. No threatening stuff or crazy things like that. Just make his life a little darker, as he gives so much pleasure to other people.

well we've talked a lot about how bad some of these people can be but i mean there are good people out there...
renymm told about parking police. well i once was forced to drive my sister's new bug and it had no change in it. i parked about 1/2 a mile away from the doctor's office (the only place you can park!) so i get noticeably angry (i have anger control problems) and i slam the car door shut as hard as i can. this nice lady, 30-40 something, typically someone id dislike just by her looks, but she was very nice saying that i can have her parking space cuz she's leaving then...there are SOME NICE PEOPLE OUT THERE KNOW ABOUT THE LOUSY TICKET OFFICIALS

 

Wanna know the best thing to do? As tempting as retaliation is (especially when greenbacks change hands), your best bet for continually riding at that trail is to push/pull your atv to the trailhead and then ride. By the way, I have been there and done that....so I feel your pain[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img]
