My buddy has a banshee that is leaking oil around the shaft that the front sprocket is connected to. Has anyone else ever had this problem and how hard is it to fix. I'm guessing that there's some kinda seal inside the case that's worn out. Will he have to spit the case to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

On most 2-strokes I've worked on you take off the front sprocket and maybe a collar and you can see the seal. You do not have to split the cases to do the job. You will have a hard time getting the seal out though. Just be careful not to ruin the case or the shaft when taking it out. I have a seal puller to do the job. Maybe bend a screwdriver to get the seal out or drill a small hole in the metal edge of the seal and put a wood screw in the hole for you to have something to hook on to so you can pull the seal out. Once you get the seal out, clean the area good and use the correct size socket to tap the seal in place.

As mentioned above: It is an easy fix...no splitting cases. Use a dental pick or the like to remove the old seal. (drain your oil first). And be careful not to crack or chip where the seal goes.
Mine did it on the banshee...All my friends had the same problem over time....15 minutes and your back riding. The seal was not expensive.

Clean around the area good....It gives you an excuse to clean up the front sprocket area while your at it.
