Okay here it is. My Warrior has a problem! When shifting it no longer clicks into gear like it used to and the shifter does not return to the middle position as it should. The shifter was literally stomped by a 16 year old during riding and is was run very low on oil. I suspect either bent shift forks or a damaged shift drum. Has anyone here split the case on the Warrior? I am looking for advice here on what to look for and any heads up on unsuspected difficulties in getting it apart. I was considering just leaving it alone and riding it as it still shifts and rides well but It's just so danged annoying and it just aint right! Also is there any clutch problem that would cause this sort of trouble? Was considering just shipping the motor off to Powroll for a 400 stroker and letting them look at the trans while they were at it.

I have a Clymer manual for the warrior. I don't have it with me tonight. It is in the garage. If you can wait, I will bring it home tomorrow and copy the bottom end section and email it to you. All I need is your email and I can get you the copys.

Appreciate the thought but I have a manual, it's just that they dont always prepare you for the little things that pop up. I tore down a Honda 2 stroke to replace the crank and it was a real pain in the a$$ I'm wondering if this more complex setup is gonna be too much to mess with. Any idea on which side of the case should be up to avoid spilling tranny guts all over the floor?

My father and i took every little piece part in my tranny. Either side is going to be hard, but the fly wheel puller is very expensive, so go with the clutch side, and inspect the plates while you are there. That should be where the problem is also. There is a little wheel in side of there that looks like a sprocket. from the sounds of it that sounds like it might be your problem. Just follow the book and you'll be alright. Good luck.

Okay, I'm an idiot. I was getting ready to remove the engine from the frame and when I took off the shifter I felt that is was extremely difficult to move. There was alot of dried up gunk and rust in there! I pulled it off and cleaned everything up, coating the shaft with anti seize lube and re-installed it. It shifts like new! To think I was ready to split the cases....whew!
