I have a friend who has a '97 Warrior and wants me to help him adjust the valves on it tomorrow and I need to know what the valve clearances are supposed to set at. Thanks for your help!

I looked at it but the clearances he stated don't seem to make any sense to me, .0039 and .0078 is what he says but these numbers aren't even on any of my feeler gauges. My Honda's valves are supposed to be set at .006 Could someone please explain this further? Thanks

To be exact they are: intake 0.06-0.07mm or 0.0023-0.0039inch.
Exhaust 0.16-0.20mm or 0.0063-00.0078inch.
They need to measure between these specs- min to max.
My guage didnt read that far out, I just adjusted the valves so my 006 would clear easy and my 008 inch guage was to tight. Hope this helps you

Well we adjusted them earlier today, I just set them both at .006, I don't know if its right or not but it seems to run good although it does tick a little. Will it be okay?

I would re-adjust them. If they tick, clearance is off. I set mine at .005 for intake and .003 for exhaust when I had the stock cam. I didn't have anything smaller han a .005 so for the exhaust I set to a really tight .005. It ran great, no ticking and no problems. If he has an aftermarket cam, they should both be .004 clearance. I hope this helps.
