Hey Guys,

Just need your opinions. I'm going to be ordering plastic for my Banshee (from Yamaha I guess). I'm either going to go with the 99-2002 Blue color scheme, or I'm going to go for an all black Banshee (picture the all Blue Banshee only in all black...like the 2002's but now white fenders).

My friend has an all blue Banshee and it really looks sweet, but he's getting the "crease" marks on it already. He takes great care of it, and he can't figure out how they got there.

Anyway, that is the reason I am leaning more towards the black (plus I don't think we have enough room for two blue banshee's in our group ).

How does the Black hold up? I'd imagine that you can see the scratches in it big time, but is it any worse than the blue?

Oh also, one last thing...I want it to have a high gloss finish on the plastic, and want it to look like it came from the factory that way. I haven't heard many good things about aftermarket plastic makers...would I be better of paying the extra cash and getting OEM?

I might be ordering right away (or else I'll wait and make it an winter project).

Thanks for the help.

-Josh

Black is going to be just as bad or worse for creasing and scratches
as compared to the blue. I have a Blue Raptor and have alot of creases and scratches but you can take care of those with a hair dryer or heat gun
and plastic renew kit. I got my plastic renew kit from Rocky mountain atv.
Go with whatever you like better. A black Banshee would probably be pretty cool and different. Later

You can get rid of the creases with a hair dryer? I take it the plastic renew kit is for the scratches right?

Could you tell me how you get rid of the creases? My friend will be so happy he will cry (seriously, you gotta meet this guy...can you say "obsessed much?&quot.

Thank you for the reply.

Black sures does look good. Just signed your guest book. Mine so far looks great. What I do after its cleaned up with hose and bucket of water is put on a coat of wax. (Raptors melt if they get high pressure, they have thin skin.) I use minute wax (silicone car wax)made by turtle wax. Its in a green, stand up, spray bottle and comes in a 12 fl. oz. bottle. It says on the bottle (the wax for people who hate to wax their car). I would think a local auto parts store would have it. I just spray it on a cloth, wipe it on and can almost in a short amount of time wipe it right off. It leaves a finish that makes your atv look really nice. Added bonus is if you do this regular it makes it easier to clean the dirt off because of the barrier of silicone on the plastic. As far as scratches and buff marks its something I think that goes with the sport. But the marks I have on mine don't look any worse than on any other color that I have. I just use that silicone and it just looks real shiny and at a distance you don't even see those buff marks. I think its what made my 99 Black/red 300ex look so good for an easy sale. I just got to keep my Raptor clean because it looks so cool sitting there in the garage with the lights down low.

You just have to heat up the plastic some and it will kind of melt back to it's original color. It's really weird to see. Do it in a space that's not really noticable until you get the hang of it. You just have to get the plastic hot enough and you'll see it start to go back to it's original color.
It's quicker with a heat gun but will work with a good hair dryer.
Good luck. Later

Either black or blue is going to show the crease marks and scratches. I would just pick whatever color you really want and go with it.

Hmmmmm....I'll probably go with the Black then if one isn't better than the other. Like I said, my neighbor has a Blue one, so he might have a hissy if I got the same color as him.

Is there anything that you can put before you put them on that will prevent scratches???

Thanks guys.

Josh,

I don't think there is anything you can do to prevent the scratchs. I saw a new black and white banshee at the dealer. I second the motion for the black.

When I do mine it will be completely black...just like the new blue ones only black. I should be able to use the same graphics as the blue ones as well right?

I don't know, I just can't figure out a good color combination that is original and has not been done before (by the factory I mean). I'm a big fan of black anything, so I thought it would look kinda cool.

I don't know when I'm ordering the stuff, but I will post pics when it happens.

Thanks again guys.
