1000 cc sport quad

Kind of over kill if you ask me... yamaha detuned the 660r... how much detuning would a 1000cc need?
No *big* corporation is going to release something that is easy to get killed on, it's just not in their $$$ interests.

More than cc...what scares me is what type of engine could be a suitable 1 liter quad engine????
Vtwin sounds nice...but imagine the size of the front radiator to cool everything...you'd need a periscope to see in front of you!! ahahah. Weight would be overkill...at least for a sport quad.
A single is out of question...wouldn't run nicely. The biggest singles were Suzuki's DR800 (actually 737cc, then 788cc...and 840cc for the Paris Dakar racers). I'd love to have such an engine in a 250R geometry/banshee plastics...
The best big ATV engine if you ask me is a BMW flat twin (up to 1150cc). Air cooled, 100hp+...low center of gravity, shaft drive, no need for a frame (the engine usually links the swingarm and the front "fork"
. I'd love to do this...being air cooled, it should shave some weight here...but BMW=big$$$
To get back to the original question...I would rather buy a pumped up 500cc than a detuned 1000cc (look at the explosive 400YZF and tame 660 Raptor...)
