What size tires are you running for trail riding?????? (POLL)

I run 22x11x9 Maxxis Razr's for trail riding. They are actually 22 inches tall, the bandits are only about 20.5 inches tall. With the 20 inch stock tires I was getting hung up all day, with the 22's, I almost never hit the skid plate any more, it's amazing what difference an inch makes :*).

I have 22" Bearclaws on my shee, and I'm getting 18" Holeshot MXs. I got a set of sand tires on ITP 8" rims for 100$cdn (I feel it was a good deal, the guy even gave me the bizzarre blood shot eyes light covers) a couple month ago...so as soon as I get the Holeshots, I'll have both sets of tires...big/slippery/confortable/higher and small/precise/sharp/cool looking/extremely grippy. Last weekend we rode some technical rocky trail...and I was happy to trust the skidpalte I simply tried to have enough momentum to skid above the rocks (and it did work...100% of the time, 10 or so times out of 10). The only thing that limited me was the width (at 47 -stock inverted rims-)...I had to lift it to put it straight and go through 2 trees...
I think I'll have the hot setup with 22" and 18"...but if I had to choose one of 'em, I'd go with 18...only once did I feel the need for big tires...and I'd trade some quad lifting action for straight line stability any day!!!

Hey WoodWarrior,
Before you order those 22" Bandits call Rocky Mountain ATV and get them to tell you the true height. You'll find that the 22" Bandits are only 20" tall. I found out the hard way and had to send them back because I had already changed the front and rear sprockets on my Raptor to match 22" tires.
I wish they would have worked because I really like the thread design. Another thing to check is the weight. Those kevlar belted Bandits are extreemly heavy.
Good luck,

Okay... well now I have a whole new set of problems. I do not want to go w/ 20" tires!!! ...but I don't know what tread pattern to go w/ for a "TRUE" 22" tire. I don't like the Razrs or Holeshots cause I don't think they will have enough traction once the trails get a little slimmy.
Any recommendations? I do want allot of trail capabilities, but at the same time I don't want to be out of control on a MX track. I don't plan on racing MX, but I want to be able to play.
Any ideas????
