help....fouled yet another plug
#1
Last night while I was out riding a rode a wheelie through a puddle of water on my warrior. When I shut it off I couldn't get it started again. I took my plug out and it was fouled. I replaced it and it fired right up. Why does it do this? This is the third plug I fouled. It seems that I foul them after the quad is running for a long while and it cools down fast, like with water hitting it. Is this a problem or is it jetting, needle in the carb, or is it electrical? I have a K&N filter, E series pro meg, and 20 over bore. Any help is thankful.

first is ....need more info..does it smoke at all? any backfireing? ect ect.. but my first thought is electrical ...is the coil putting out enuf juice? is the lead wire in good shape ? did you install dielectic gease on the boot? then take the new plug out and ground it to the motor turn the quad over with the starter and see how your spark is ?? is it a weak spark? or is it crisp and snappy? if it is crisp you probly need to look eles were , next start the quad and let it run while you spray water on it with a hose (do this imeditly before it gets hot ) and does the quad studder or quit ? if none of this effects the quad ...start looking into the carb ...spray starting fluid around the carb boots while it is running ...does the rpm change?? if so find the leak!! if your quad ran fine before it is very unlikely that you have a jet problem ...is your air filter clean? is your oil fresh??? gas fresh?? pull the bowl off the carb and inspect it ...any water in it ? depree? my 2 cents worth hope some of these things ive mentioned help you out .......

Yes, my quad smokes very badly when I first start it up but it goes away after about 2 mins. It gets good spark. Just cleaned the air filter and changed the oil. I refill it every time I ride it. I always keep a full take of gas and I always run the same gas from the same pump. My starter works, but sometimes I have a lot of trouble getting the engine to start. The starter turns over but the engine doesn't start. It doesn't do this when I put a new plug in it. I know when my plug is going bad becuz it doesn't start as fast as it does when it has a new plug in it. THANK YOU BIGGY!!!

Just curious. What is your definition of a "fouled plug?" I have always thought that a fouled plug was the result of an over rich condition in a 2-stroke. Simply put, the premix in the fuel doesn't burn off and "fouls" the plug. If you are experiencing oil fouling, I would recommend that you begin to look at the rings and valves for your problem. In my mind there is no other way for oil to enter the cylinder.
