I have talked to several dealers and two said they won't get a 2002 raptor until like november or later. Each one of these guys have a 2001 on the lot. One other dealer said he had a 2002, and I asked three times to make sure and he said yes it is a 2002. He doesn't have any 2001 raptors.

I think maybe the guys are trying to sell the 2001's before they order a 2002 and just won't tell me.

Does anyone have a 2002 yet or is the one guy just not right and telling me he has 2002 when it is really a 2001.

What do you guys think. I have seen the 2001's, but the guy with the 2002 is like 3 hours from home and I have not gone up there yet.

Any comments, anyone have a 2002?
Thanks

Well he may be telling the truth Because they ar suposed to come out this month but if you do go their to look at it if it doesn't have piggy back rear suspention its a 2001 if it does its most likely a 2002 also see if the rear end is alittle differant.
Thats how you could tell the diferance
P.S. calll the guy and see if it has a piggy back rear suspention!

I have looked on the web and in the brochure and have only seen the new rear suspension, what does the non piggyback look like?

If anyone knows of anyplace to see pics let me know, so I can compare. I understand the 2002 also has the yellow shocks in the black white color sheme.

Any other ideas
Thanks

2002 black/white models have the front yellow springs. Go to Yamahausa website for a look. 2002 rear shock has the gas reservior mounted on the shock itself. 2001 models have there gas reserviors(bright gold small cylinder on left side by rear fender tire information) mounted away from the shock on the frame connected by a small hose line. So I take it that nobody actually has one of the 2002's yet? I'm interested in the riding impressions and how it compares to the 2001 model. Surely someone has purchased a 2002 model by now...I've heard they are available at this point. Anyone???

No 2002's yet, I have talked to every dealer I could find an email address for or a phone number. I talked to about 15 dealers in the western states, from wyoming to cali and some said they had 2002's, but when questioned about them I found they were 2001's. I talked to yamaha, their customer service number and they said that the 2002's will probably begin shipping this month. The dealers all said probably not until october.

I got a 2001 for a good price and so I bought it. My wife is getting into quads and so I think next year she might inherit this raptor and I might get another or maybe the next hot bike to come out.

Hope that helps

Just got mine and there is not much difference betwween 2001 and 2002 .If you have 2001 you should keep it and just modify it.

Not much difference? If no one has the new model yet,HOW do you know? I do believe there will be a lot of difference with the transmission. I sold my 2001 and will be getting a 2002. Did not like the trans ratios at all on my 2001.
