KISSSOFDEATH...You mentioned that the tube is pressurized. How so? Or is it just a matter of being a sealed space... like an up side down container with the only opening pointing down, even submerged, water will not enter.
How long did you extend yours? Did you keep the opening pointing down, or is it up like a snorkel now? I looked at your pictures and see what looks like a clear tube just in front of the recoil starter going vertically...is that it?

2tall, when I first got my Kodiak back from the dealer I inspected the pump. First thing I saw was the tube hanging down and running on top of the skidplate. I said, "this will never work". I ran out and bought some tubing and extended it up to the handlebars. The whole time I was doing this I kept saying, "why is the tube so short to begin with"? So I took the tube back down and did my test.
I got a pan of water, then I submerged the end of the tube in the water. It didnt matter if the end was pointing up down or sideways water still would not enter the tube.
When I took that picture I had the tube running up to the handlebars. You can even see the little brass connection I used. Now after doing the test I ran it along the skidplate and frame and tied it with a plastic wire tie.
If a person was worried about getting water in it and didnt want to run it up to the handlebars they could plug it off when they knew they were going to get into water over the floorboards for an extended period of time. I do my carb drain bowl like that "even though it does have a two way valve".
I hope this helps and if you have anymore questions just ask.
