Just blowing off steam

I'm really getting sick of Yamaha's attitude. I'm sure that when they are pricing their replacment parts, they don't decide by how much it cost them to build, but "how bad will the customer need it". For example, I ripped the little rubber intake boot between the carb and cylinder on my '96 Wolv, and when I went to take it off, surprise surprise, it was attatched to the aluminum intake manifold so you would have to buy both. Imagine my joy when the dealer told me that that little rip in the rubber would cost me $120 +tax. It probably cost Yamaha $20 to make, but they know that the bike won't go without it. That's what I consider price gouging. That's about as low as charging $100 for a glass of water during a drought. Is this how Yamaha shows gratitude to it's customers?????
Sorry guys... just had to blow off some steam.

Your COMPLETELY right.I to am pissed at the prices of ALL ATV parts.Makes me mad when brakes for the Polaris cost 40.00 per WHEEL.I can do my entire truck for 30.00.It's bad enough they rip us off on the purchase price of the quads, now they want to get us on parts to.Until more after market ATV parts are available,we will continue to suffer. I had that on an old Yamaha dirtbike. It was a YZ80, and on this model, years back, they ran the coolant for the radiator through the steering stem. It would always leak so I got new bearings, seals, and races, thinking it would be like around $30 (there wasn't anything to it) but it was $90. That sucked. Just curious, is the snowmobile industry like this also?
